Overview

NIT Hamirpur came into existence on 7 August 1986 as the Regional Engineering College, Hamirpur, a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh, starting with just Civil and Electrical Engineering. It was upgraded to a National Institute of Technology with deemed university status on 26 June 2002, and declared an Institution of National Importance in 2007. The institute has a residential campus of over 300 acres in the foothills of the Himalayas. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering, architecture, sciences and management.
