Overview
MANIT Bhopal was established in 1960 as the Maulana Azad College of Technology, one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges in the country, and was inaugurated on 4 September 1960. It is named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the scholar and India's first education minister. It was elevated to deemed university status in June 2002, renamed Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, and declared an Institution of National Importance in 2007. The institute sits on a 650-acre plateau campus in Bhopal and runs nine undergraduate, one integrated and over thirty postgraduate programmes.
