October 28 is the date to circle. Anyone who wants a place in the last official XAT 2027 mock test has to finish registration by then. The test itself runs on October 31 and November 1, and XLRI Jamshedpur has made registration by October 28 the condition for taking part.
This is the third mock test of the season, and the last one. XLRI already ran rounds on August 30 and on September 30 and October 1, which late registrants missed. This round is the final chance to sit a full official rehearsal before the real exam.
What the mock test gives you
The mock runs on the actual XAT exam platform. XLRI offers three mock papers to practise with, and candidates get a score with a comparative rank analysis afterwards. That rank comparison is the part worth paying attention to. A raw score on its own says little; seeing where it lands against other test takers shows whether a section needs work.
Treat the mock as a timing exercise first. XAT gives 180 minutes for around 95 questions, and the clock is what most first-timers underestimate. Use it to find out whether you finish each section or run out of time halfway through.
The dates that matter
Registration for XAT 2027 opened on July 15, 2026, and stays open until December 6, 2026. The October 28 cutoff is only about the mock test: missing it costs you the rehearsal, not the exam.
The exam itself is on January 3, 2027, from 2 pm to 5 pm, in computer-based mode in a single shift. Admit cards are tentatively expected from December 20, 2026. A second form correction window is expected in November for those who applied after the first window closed on October 17, though its dates are not out yet.
How to register
Registration happens on the official XAT portal. Create a login, verify it through the link or OTP sent to your email, and fill in the form with personal and academic details. Upload a scanned photograph and signature, pick your test cities, and select XLRI programmes if you want to apply to them in the same form. The form fee is Rs 2,300, with Rs 200 extra for each XLRI programme selected.
Keep your documents ready before you start so the form does not stall halfway. Our admission documents checklist covers the paperwork entrance forms usually ask for, and our guide to choosing a university in India sets out what to compare beyond the brand name when weighing programmes.
What the real exam looks like
XAT 2027 has four sections: Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge. The paper carries around 95 questions in 180 minutes, with General Knowledge taking the last 10. Each correct answer earns one mark. A wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, and leaving more than eight questions unanswered costs 0.10 marks each. General Knowledge has no negative marking.
XLRI Jamshedpur conducts the exam on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes, and its score is accepted by more than 250 business schools. A three-year bachelor’s degree in any discipline is the eligibility bar, and final-year students can apply.
If the mock test is part of your plan, finish the form this weekend rather than on the last evening, when payment gateways tend to slow down.
