Choice filling for West Bengal NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling opens at 4 PM today, October 30. The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) published the list of successfully verified candidates and the Round 1 seat matrix earlier in the afternoon, after 2 PM, on its official portal. The round covers MD, MS and PG Diploma seats under the state quota, private management quota and NRI quota in government and private medical colleges across the state.

Registration for this round ran from October 22 to 28, as we reported when the schedule came out, and physical document verification took place between October 26 and 29. The verified list is the result of that process. Only candidates whose names appear on it can fill choices in Round 1. Anyone who registered and verified documents but cannot find their name should take it up with WBMCC before the choice filling window closes, since the list decides who gets to participate.

Check the seat matrix before ordering preferences

The seat matrix is the document to study before locking anything. It lists the postgraduate medical seats on offer in government and private institutions across West Bengal, broken down by institution, speciality and category. Candidates should match their rank and category against the seats in the matrix before ordering their preferences, instead of filling choices from college names alone.

To check both documents, open the official WBMCC portal and look for the PG Medical Counselling section. The verified candidate list and the seat matrix are published there as PDF documents. Download both, search for the candidate name or roll number in the verified list, and save a copy of each document for reference through the rest of the round.

Choice filling runs until midnight on November 1

Choice filling and locking runs from 4 PM today until midnight on November 1. Candidates can enter their preferred colleges and courses through the portal and rearrange them during the window. Lock the final order before the deadline, since the portal freezes choices when the window closes and there is no second chance to edit them after that.

What happens after choice filling

The Round 1 seat allotment result is due on November 4, after 4 PM, on the same portal. Candidates who get a seat must report to their allotted colleges between November 5 and November 10, from 10 AM to 4 PM, for admission. Our admission documents checklist covers the originals and copies to carry. Reporting covers document verification and admission formalities at the college, so travel plans should leave room for a full day at the institution.
