Class 12 students eyeing engineering in Chennai have their first B.Tech entrance date on the calendar. Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, a deemed-to-be university in Avadi, Chennai, has opened the online application window for VTUEEE 2027, its engineering entrance examination. Phase 1 of the four-phase test will be held on January 9 and 10, 2027, and its result will be declared on January 18.
Applications are live on the official Vel Tech application portal. The B.Tech application fee is Rs 950 and is non-refundable.
The four-phase schedule
VTUEEE 2027 runs in four phases between January and April 2027, and candidates can appear in any phase. The phase-wise calendar is as follows:
| Phase | Exam dates | Result date |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | January 9 and 10, 2027 | January 18, 2027 |
| Phase 2 | February 13 and 14, 2027 | February 22, 2027 |
| Phase 3 | March 20 and 21, 2027 | March 29, 2027 |
| Phase 4 | April 17 and 18, 2027 | April 26, 2027 |
How to apply
Go to the official Vel Tech application portal, register with your details, fill in the application form, upload a scanned photograph and signature, and pay the Rs 950 application fee before final submission.
Apply early rather than waiting for a phase you like. Portals get crowded close to popular dates, and a failed fee payment on the last day is the most avoidable way to miss an exam.
Who can apply
To apply, students must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination, or be appearing for it in 2027, with at least 60 percent marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
Vel Tech runs B.Tech programmes across specialisations including computer science, AI and data science, electronics and communication, aeronautical and mechanical engineering. Students can also apply with their JEE Main scores; the university accepts both the entrance test and JEE Main for B.Tech admission.
