Applications for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2027 opened on October 20, 2026. Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at VIT can apply on the official VITEEE portal until March 31, 2027. The application fee is Rs 1,450 and is non-refundable.

VITEEE is the entrance test for BTech programmes at Vellore Institute of Technology, covering all four of its campuses: Vellore, Chennai, Amaravati (AP) and Bhopal. VIT-AP in Amaravati and VIT Bhopal admit students through this same exam, so one form covers all four locations.

Exam tentatively set for late April

VIT has not locked a final schedule yet, and every date beyond the application window is tentative. The university’s official press release, quoted by The Hindu, says the 2027 exam will run in a single phase from April 28 to May 2, in 133 test cities across India and nine centres abroad. Other publications, including The Indian Express and Careers360, report the window as April 27 to 30. Expect VIT to confirm the exact dates closer to the exam.

The rest of the tentative calendar looks like this:

Who can apply

Students who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing for the qualifying examination in 2027, are eligible. The general requirement is at least 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology, with at least 50% in Mathematics or Biology as applicable. Candidates from the SC and ST categories, and those from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the northeastern states, need 50% aggregate in the qualifying subjects. Candidates opting for the Biology combination are eligible only for specified BTech programmes.

How the application works

The process is fully online. Register with your details on the portal, verify your email address or mobile number, then fill in personal, contact and academic information. Upload the photograph, signature and other documents in the prescribed format, pay the Rs 1,450 fee online through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI, and download the confirmation page and payment receipt. Keep both saved, the receipt is the only proof the form went through if a payment dispute comes up later.

The window runs for over five months, so there is no reason to file in the final week. Portal traffic spikes near every national exam deadline, and a failed payment or a rejected photograph on March 31 leaves almost no room to recover. Our admission documents checklist covers the scans and certificates worth keeping ready before you begin.
