Applications for the 2027-29 MBA at Vellore Institute of Technology opened on October 30, and the window stays open for five months. The last date to submit a form is March 31, 2027.

The programme is a two-year, full-time MBA run by VIT Business School. Specialisations on offer include Business Analytics, Human Resource Management, Finance, Operations and Marketing. For MBA aspirants who are still weighing where to apply, the long window is useful: the CAT exam falls on November 29, 2026, and XAT follows on January 3, 2027, so candidates can sit one of those tests and still use the score for this application.

Who can apply

The academic bar is set at 60 per cent marks or First Class, and it applies at three stages: Class 10, Class 12 or diploma, and the undergraduate degree. The undergraduate degree must run for at least three years after higher secondary education.

Students in the final year of their undergraduate course in 2027 can also apply, provided their results are declared on or before August 14, 2027. Candidates from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories, and applicants from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the northeastern states, get a 10 per cent relaxation in the undergraduate degree eligibility.

Before starting the form, it helps to have scanned copies of marksheets and certificates ready. Our admission documents checklist lists the papers applicants usually need for a management admission form.

How admission works

Candidates have two routes into the programme. They can appear for the VIT Business School Entrance Examination, VITBEE 2027, conducted by the university itself. Or they can submit a valid score from CAT, XAT or MAT.

Shortlisting rests on the entrance score, and shortlisted candidates go through a personal interview. Work experience is treated as an added advantage at that stage, which matters for applicants who have spent a year or two in a job after graduation and are now returning to study.

How to apply

Applications go through the official VIT MBA admissions portal. New applicants start by signing up with their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, email address, mobile number, PIN code, state and district, then log in with the registered email ID and password.

The form itself asks for personal and educational details along with the entrance examination details. Candidates pick one route, CAT, XAT, MAT or VITBEE 2027, and enter the score or opt for the university test accordingly. The application fee is paid through the options on the portal, and the amount is shown on the live application page, so check it there before paying.

Once the form is submitted, save the application confirmation and the payment receipt. Both come in handy later, whether for the interview shortlist or for sorting out a payment query.
