Candidates on Uttarakhand’s NEET PG Round 1 merit list have two days to lock in their college choices. Choice filling opens at 9 AM on Thursday, October 29, and the window closes at 11:59 PM on Friday, October 30.

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU) released the provisional state merit list on October 28. The round covers MD, MS and diploma seats in government and private medical colleges across the state. Only candidates named on the list can fill choices, and the order in which they rank colleges will decide the allotment. Candidates should check the list for their own category on the portal, since the published PDF covers candidates registered under the NRI quota.

Round 1 dates to remember

EventDate and time
Choice filling and lockingOctober 29, 9 AM to October 30, 11:59 PM
Data processingOctober 31 and November 1
Round 1 resultNovember 2, after 8 PM
Last date of joining the allotted collegeNovember 10

The dates come from the university’s revised Round 1 schedule, which followed the extension of the registration deadline to October 27. Registration for this round is now closed, so the choice filling window is only for candidates who already registered and paid the security fee.

How to fill and lock choices

Candidates need to log in to the counselling portal on the university website, open the NEET PG 2026 counselling section, and enter their NEET PG roll number and password to reach their profile. From there, they can add their preferred colleges and courses in order of preference and lock the list.

Two details are worth getting right. First, the order matters more than the number of choices: a college placed higher on the list is considered first, so the list should reflect genuine preference rather than guesswork about cut-offs. Second, locking is a separate step from entering choices. Choices left unlocked when the window closes are not counted in the allotment, and the university has given only this two-day window for the task.

What happens after October 30

HNBUMU will process the locked choices on October 31 and November 1, and the Round 1 allotment result is due on November 2 after 8 PM. Candidates allotted a seat must join the allotted college by November 10. Those who are not allotted a seat in this round stay in the process for the later rounds, which the university will announce separately.

The safest way to track all of this is the official HNBUMU counselling portal itself, rather than forwarded messages or unofficial lists. Our admission documents checklist covers the papers candidates are usually asked to produce when they report to an allotted college.
