Uttar Pradesh medical graduates have a packed day ahead. The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, releases the UP NEET PG 2026 Round 1 merit list on October 26, and choice filling opens the same evening. Registration closed at 11 AM today, but one deadline is still open at the time of writing: the registration fee and security deposit must be paid by 2 PM.
The round covers state quota seats in MD, MS, PG Diploma and DNB programmes at government and private medical colleges across Uttar Pradesh, including King George’s Medical University in Lucknow. Candidates check the merit list on the official UP NEET counselling portal. If a name is missing, there is no choice filling in this round.
Two deadlines before choice filling
The order of the day matters. Registration closed at 11 AM on October 26. The fee window runs a little longer, to 2 PM, and that is the last chance to settle the payment side of the application. The registration fee is Rs 3,000 and is non-refundable. The security deposit depends on the seats a candidate wants to compete for: Rs 30,000 for government medical and dental seats only, Rs 2,00,000 for government and private medical seats, and Rs 1,00,000 for private dental seats. A candidate who has not paid the applicable deposit cannot take part in choice filling, even if the registration form itself went through.

The merit list itself is prepared on different lines for different courses. For MD, MS and Diploma seats, the applicable weightage for eligible in-service candidates is applied. For DNB and MDS seats, the list follows the All India NEET rank.
How choice filling works
Choice filling opens at 5 PM on October 26 and stays open until 5 PM on October 30. Choices must be submitted and locked inside the window. An unlocked list does not count for allotment. Once locked, choices cannot be changed.
Rank colleges and courses in genuine order of preference, and check the seat matrix on the official portal first, since it shows which seats are actually on offer in this round. What happens after November 2
The Round 1 seat allotment result is declared on November 2. Candidates who get a seat then have two admission windows: November 3 to 7, and November 12 and 13. The allotment letter must be downloaded in that period, and admission formalities completed at the allotted college with the required documents. Missing the admission window puts the seat itself at risk.
DGME publishes its notices on upneet.gov.in and on dgme.up.gov.in, and those two sites are the only versions of the schedule that count.
