If you registered for UGC NET December 2026 and have not checked your form since you submitted it, today is the last day to do it. The National Testing Agency (NTA) closes the application correction window at 11:50 pm on November 4, and it has said no further chance to change details will be given after that.
Corrections are made on the official UGC NET portal. Only candidates who have already submitted an application can use the window. It does not reopen registration for anyone who missed the deadline, and fresh applications cannot be filed through it.
9.75 lakh paid fees so far
NTA has said 9,75,505 candidates paid the application fee for the December session. That number is subject to bank reconciliation, so it may move slightly once payment records are verified. It is the count of paid applications, not the number of candidates who will finally sit the exam.
The scale is worth keeping in mind when the admit cards arrive. UGC NET runs across 87 subjects in computer-based test mode, and it decides eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship, for Assistant Professor posts, and for admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities and colleges.
What you can change, and what stays locked
It helps to know before logging in which fields the window actually opens. Candidates can correct one of three name fields: their own name, their father’s name, or their mother’s name. Date of birth, gender, category and subject can also be revised. Sub-category and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities status can be changed if the disability details have not been verified through the Unique Disability ID portal. Exam city preferences can be changed too, based on permanent and present addresses, though NTA is not bound to allot a city of the candidate’s choice.
Several fields stay locked: mobile number, email address, both addresses, photograph and signature. The admit card will carry those details as they stand, so check them even though the window cannot fix them.
If a correction moves a candidate into a different fee category, the extra amount has to be paid online before the revised form is submitted. Download the updated confirmation page afterwards and keep it with the original.
Our admission documents checklist is useful at this stage, since the details on the form should match the documents a candidate will carry to the exam centre.
What comes after tonight
Once the window closes, the schedule moves to the exam itself. The exam city intimation slip will be available from November 23, and admit cards can be downloaded from December 7. The hall ticket is mandatory at the exam centre.
The exams run from December 14 to 18 and on December 21, 2026. The subject-wise schedule has not been released yet, and NTA has said it will be announced separately, so candidates should watch the official NTA website for that notice rather than relying on coaching centre timetables.
