Eight days remain before the regular registration window for UCEED 2027 closes on October 31, 2026. IIT Bombay is the organising institute, and the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design stands out among IIT-level exams: it is open to students from every stream, Science, Commerce and Arts alike.

UCEED scores decide admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programmes at seven institutes: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. Candidates who register by October 31 pay no late fee.

Key dates to remember

Registration went live on the official application portal on October 1, 2026, at 5 PM. The last date to apply without a late fee is October 31. Registrations with the Rs 500 late fee are accepted from November 1 till 5 PM on November 6. After that, the portal shuts for the year.

The exam itself is on January 17, 2027, from 9 AM to 12 noon. Results will be declared on March 6, 2027.

Application fee

The fee is Rs 2,000 for female, SC, ST and PwD candidates, and Rs 4,000 for all other candidates. Add Rs 500 if you register in the late-fee window between November 1 and 6. Payment is accepted online through net banking, card or UPI.

Who can apply

Candidates who passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2026 are eligible, and so are those appearing for Class 12 in 2027. One rule is easy to overlook: a candidate can attempt UCEED only twice, and the two attempts must be in consecutive years.

There is also no correction window after the form is submitted. Fill every field carefully, and confirm the details before you pay the fee.

The exam format

UCEED 2027 is a three-hour computer-based test with two parts taken in a single sitting. Part A is computer-based, with objective questions testing design aptitude. Part B tests drawing skills and is answered on paper. Candidates must qualify in both parts to earn a merit rank.

How to register

Head to the official UCEED portal and click the new-registration link. Create an account with a valid email ID and mobile number, then fill in personal, academic and category details. Upload a recent photograph, your signature, the qualifying-examination certificate and category certificates where applicable. Pay the fee online and download the confirmation page for your records.

Keep scanned copies of every document ready before you begin. Our admission documents checklist covers what most entrance forms ask for.
