Tamil Nadu’s medical graduates got the answer they had been waiting for on October 29, 2026. The Selection Committee of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) published the provisional rank lists for NEET PG 2026 counselling on its official portal, tnmedicalselection.net, opening the state quota admission process for the 2026-27 academic year.

Two lists are out. The government quota list ranks 7,952 candidates for MD, MS and DNB programmes, and the management quota list carries 3,643 names. The management quota list also covers minority quota and NRI quota seats. Candidates can download both lists as PDFs from the portal and check their overall state rank, community rank, NEET PG marks and incentive-adjusted total.

Who topped the list

Dr Rajesh Kumar V, from the MBC and DNC category, secured rank 1 in the government quota list with 705.64 marks. Dr Akash S, also from the MBC and DNC category, took rank 2 with 641.92 marks. Dr Monish Kanna R followed at rank 3 with 641 marks.

The top of the list shows how much Tamil Nadu’s in-service incentive marks shape the merit order. The first, second, fourth and fifth ranked candidates are all in-service doctors carrying an 18 percent incentive, added to their NEET PG scores for service in remote, rural or hilly areas. A candidate reading only the raw NEET PG score would miss why the order looks the way it does, since the incentive-adjusted total is what the list ranks.

Each entry in the list gives the candidate’s application number, NEET roll number, community, service status, incentive percentage, total marks and community rank. That detail matters now, because a wrong community entry or a missing incentive entry changes where a candidate stands when seats are filled.

What candidates should do next

The rank list is provisional, and the Selection Committee has not yet announced the option entry schedule. Candidates should check every detail on their entry against their scorecard and category certificate while they wait. The documents needed at verification are the usual set: the NEET PG scorecard, MBBS degree and marksheets, medical registration certificate and category certificate where applicable. Our admission documents checklist covers the full set in one place.

Once option entry opens, ranked candidates will fill their preferred colleges and courses in order. Seats in the state quota cover government medical colleges and government quota seats in self-financing colleges, all affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. A place on the rank list does not by itself secure a seat. Allotment depends on the choices filled, the candidate’s rank and the seats available in each round.

Candidates should track the official Selection Committee portal for the option entry schedule and any correction notice on the provisional list, rather than relying on social media posts that may carry older schedules.
