Learners who finished a SWAYAM course in the July 2026 cycle have until 11:50 pm tonight, November 5, to register for the semester examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) moved the deadline in a public notice dated October 31, 2026, and both parts of the process have to be finished by tonight: the application form and the fee payment. A form without a completed fee transaction will not count as a complete registration.
The original schedule had closed applications on October 31, with the fee payment window running to November 1. Under the revised schedule, both close together on November 5. NTA has said there will be no further extension once this window closes, so anyone still planning to apply should not wait for another date.
What changed in the revised schedule
Registration for the July 2026 semester examination opened on October 9, 2026, covering 662 courses on the SWAYAM platform. SWAYAM, short for Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds, is the Ministry of Education’s platform of free online courses. The semester examination is the certification step at the end of a course, with a proctored test that learners take after finishing the course material.
The correction window has moved as well. Candidates who have submitted a form can correct permitted fields on November 6 and 7, 2026. That window matters because it is the last chance to fix an error before the examination schedule takes over. Once it closes, NTA has said no further correction opportunity will be given.
How to register before tonight
Applications are accepted only through the official SWAYAM examination portal. On the portal, open the registration link for the July 2026 semester, fill in the form for the course you completed, and pay the examination fee in the same session if possible. Save the confirmation page once the payment goes through, since that page is the record that the transaction succeeded.
It is worth checking the form once before submitting it, even though the correction window follows. Details such as the course name and personal information are easier to get right the first time than to fix later, and a mistake found after November 7 will have to stay.
What happens next
The SWAYAM July 2026 Semester Examination will be held from December 8 to 12, 2026, as computer-based tests run in two shifts. The course-wise schedule sits in the official notice on the portal, so candidates should check the date and shift for their own course rather than assuming a common date for all 662 courses.
For learners weighing what to study next, the same care applies to a free online course as to a paid programme. Keeping application records in one place helps too, and our admission documents checklist covers the kind of paperwork that tends to be asked for at examination and admission time.
