If you were due to sit a paper today under Savitribai Phule Pune University, do not head to the examination centre. The university has moved every examination scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026, to Thursday, November 26, 2026.
The change applies across the board. It covers all papers set for October 31 at affiliated colleges and examination centres in Pune, Ahilyanagar and Nashik districts, whatever the course. The papers will be held at the same timings and in the same sessions as originally scheduled, so students keep the same timetable and change only the date.
Why the university moved the papers
The university issued a circular on Friday, October 30, through its examination department. The reason given was traffic restrictions and possible disruption during the President’s visit to Nashik and Trimbakeshwar for the flag-hoisting ceremony that marks the start of preparations for the 2026-27 Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
The decision followed a letter from the Nashik Municipal Commissioner dated October 28, alerting the university to the likely effect on traffic in Nashik and nearby areas. With a high-profile visit on the same day as the examinations, the university decided against putting students at risk of delays on the way to their centres, particularly in Nashik district.
Students should treat November 26 as the revised date and keep preparing on that basis. The university has asked affiliated colleges to inform students promptly, and the notice will also be available on the official SPPU website. If a forwarded message or a college notice gives a different date, check it against the university’s own circular before acting on it.
A second change to SPPU’s calendar this month
This is the second time in October that SPPU has had to move a full day of examinations. The university postponed all October 23 papers because of polling for five Maharashtra Legislative Council seats in the teachers’ and graduates’ constituencies, with revised dates to follow in a separate circular.
The October 31 case is different in one useful way. Students already have the replacement date, so there is no open-ended wait for a second circular. The practical point is the same in both cases: watch for the university’s own notice, not for rumours in a class group, and keep the preparation going while the date shifts.
