October 13 is the last day. SNDT Women’s University’s Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) closes its 2026-27 admission window today for fresh admissions to Part I of all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The deadline was pushed back from September 30 to October 13 through a notification the university issued on September 30, and candidates who have not submitted their applications need to do it before the portal closes.
The window covers BA in English, Hindi, Marathi, Sociology, Economics, Political Science and History, BA in Mass Media, BCom and Bachelor of Management Studies at undergraduate level. At postgraduate level, the open programmes are MA in the same seven subjects, MCom, MBA and MA in Education. SNDT Women’s University has also kept the admission window open for second-year BA and BCom Part II students under the extended schedule.
Two of those programmes follow a different route. Admission to the BMS and MBA distance programmes is through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the university, and the university has extended the CET application window as well. Candidates aiming for these two courses should check the latest official notification rather than relying on the older October timeline that was announced earlier. Admission to the remaining UG and PG courses is merit-based, on qualifying-exam marks.
The entire process runs online: registration, document upload and fee payment. It helps to have scanned copies of qualifying marksheets, a photograph, a signature and identity proof ready before starting the form, since last-day traffic can slow portals down. Our admission documents checklist covers what most universities ask for and in what format.
The programmes are approved by the University Grants Commission’s Distance Education Bureau. The university says students get self-learning material in e-book form, online counselling sessions and guidance from subject experts, with study and examination centres at its Mumbai headquarters and sub-centres in Pune and Chandrapur-Ballarpur. Eligible students can also apply for scholarships under government norms. Women looking at aid options can read our guide to scholarships for Indian university students.
A little context: SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, founded in 1916, is India’s first university established exclusively for women. Its distance-education arm has operated since 1979, aimed at women who could not attend regular college, including working women and homemakers. The university says more than three lakh women have completed courses through this mode over the last four decades.
For the official admission link, notification PDFs and any last-minute updates, candidates should go through the university’s official CDOE admissions page. The extension notification dated September 30 carries the revised schedule in English, and a Marathi version is posted alongside it.
