Students appearing for the October 23 paper of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s Winter 2026 session will now write it on November 1. The university has changed the date twice after election and eligibility-test dates collided with its exam calendar.

According to a circular from the Directorate of Examinations and Evaluation, the paper was first shifted from October 23 to October 25. The reason was the Nagpur Graduates’ Constituency election to the Maharashtra Legislative Council, which is scheduled for October 23. That fix created a new clash: the Maharashtra State Eligibility Test is also scheduled on October 25, so the university decided to postpone the examination further to avoid inconvenience to students and examination centres. With the SET occupying October 25, November 1 became the date that cleared both conflicts.

The examination will now be held on Sunday, November 1, at the designated centres and at the timings mentioned in the earlier timetable. Dr Anoop Palsokar, Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation, has issued the circular, which has been addressed to the principals of affiliated colleges, heads of departments, examination centre heads, and students.

November 1 falls on a Sunday. The university has kept the same centres and timings, so the date is the only change students need to note.

Why the date kept moving

The first shift was about the October 23 election. Graduates’ constituency elections draw polling activity at centres that universities often use for examinations, and the university moved the paper out of that day to October 25. Then it emerged that the Maharashtra SET would occupy that date too, forcing the second revision. Sunday, November 1, was picked as the new date, keeping the same centres and timings so students do not have to adjust their travel or reporting plans.

What students should do

Students should check the revised schedule with their college’s examination section, because the old timetable no longer applies. Anyone who had arranged travel or accommodation around the original October 23 date will need to adjust those plans. RTMNU uploads its timetables and circulars on the university’s official website, which is the most reliable place to confirm the change.
