The last seats in Punjab’s MBBS and BDS admissions are up for grabs, and the window to claim one is short. Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, has released the schedule for the stray vacancy round of NEET UG 2026 state counselling, and fresh registration is open from October 16 to October 18, 2026.

The university’s vacancy notice lists 72 seats in total: 9 MBBS and 63 BDS seats across participating government and private medical and dental colleges. The stray round is the final stage of Punjab’s state counselling, so there is no further round after this one.

Registration happens on the BFUHS counselling portal. Keep the standard paperwork scanned and ready before you start the form; our admission documents checklist covers what counselling rounds usually ask for.

Who can register, and who cannot

New candidates can register afresh for this round. The university has excluded three groups. Candidates who have already joined or are holding a seat through MCC or any state counselling up to Round 3 cannot participate. Neither can candidates who were allotted a seat in Punjab’s Round 3 but did not report for joining. And a registration without the willingness and the security deposit inside the window does not count: such candidates will not be considered for allotment.

Upgradation is not allowed in the stray round. The seat you get is the seat you keep.

What it costs

The registration fee is Rs 5,900 for General category candidates and Rs 2,950 for SC candidates, both figures including 18% GST. On top of that comes a refundable security deposit that depends on the colleges a candidate lists:

College choicesSecurity deposit
Government collegesRs 10,000
Government colleges for SC, BC and PwD candidatesRs 5,000
Private collegesRs 2,00,000
Government and private collegesRs 2,00,000

The gap between the government and private deposits is large, so candidates who want private colleges in their option list need the higher deposit arranged before the window closes. If the private-versus-government call is still open, our guide to choosing a university in India walks through how to compare institutions.

The seats on offer

Of the 9 MBBS seats, 3 are at Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathinda, 2 at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Amritsar, and 1 each at Christian Medical College Ludhiana, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot, Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences Jalandhar, and RIMT Medical College and Hospital, Mandi Gobindgarh.

The 63 BDS seats are spread across dental colleges. The largest blocks are at RIMT Dental College, Mandi Gobindgarh (18 seats) and Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital, Mandi Gobindgarh (17 seats), with government dental colleges at Amritsar and Patiala also in the mix.

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences conducts the state quota counselling for Punjab’s medical and dental colleges. With choice filling set for October 20 and 21, candidates should check the college-wise matrix on the official portal before locking their preferences.
