The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha has published the provisional merit list for NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling. The list went live on the official portal at noon on October 28, and it covers admission to MD, MS and diploma courses in the state’s medical colleges.
This is a provisional list, so the first job for every candidate on it is to check it line by line. Look at your name, your state rank, your category and your eligibility status. If any of those details are wrong, the time to say so is now, because the next steps in the schedule run on this list.
Objections close at 2 pm on October 29
Candidates who find a discrepancy in the provisional merit list can submit their grievances until 2 pm on October 29, 2026. That window is short, just over a day from the list going live, so it is worth checking the list on the day it comes out rather than leaving it to the last hour.
A revised merit list and seat matrix follow once the objections have been reviewed, and both are scheduled before choice filling opens. The seat matrix matters as much as the rank list: it shows which seats are actually available in each college and course, and it is the document candidates should have open beside them when they start picking preferences.
Choice filling runs from November 1 to 3
Round 1 choice filling and locking opens on November 1 and runs until 11:55 pm on November 3, 2026. Candidates fill in their preferred colleges and courses in order, then lock those choices. An unlocked set of preferences does not count, so the locking step is not one to skip.
The allotment-cum-admission letter will be available for download from 10 am on November 5. Candidates who get a seat must then report for provisional admission on November 6 and 7, between 10 am and 5 pm, carrying their original documents, including the college leaving certificate, along with the online admission fee receipt.
There is one more step in this round for candidates who do not get the seat they wanted first time. An upgraded allotment against vacant Round 1 seats is scheduled for November 8, with the upgraded allotment letter available from 11 am on November 9 and reporting on November 10, again between 10 am and 5 pm.
How to check the merit list
Go to the official DMET Odisha portal and open the PG Medical Counselling 2026 section. Find the Round 1 provisional merit list, open the PDF for your category and check your details against your application. Download a copy and keep it with your other counselling documents, since the admission documents checklist covers the originals you will need at reporting.
Candidates still deciding how to order their preferences can work through how to choose a university in India before the choice filling window opens on November 1. The order of preferences decides the allotment, so a college left off the list cannot be allotted later, even if a seat there stays vacant.
