BAMS graduates in Andhra Pradesh have until 10 am on Tuesday, November 10, to apply for MD and MS (Ayurveda) seats at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences. The university published the notification on November 6 and opened online applications for competent authority quota seats for the 2026-27 academic year. The same notification round also covers MD (Homoeopathy) seats for BHMS graduates.
The seats are in postgraduate Ayurveda courses at colleges affiliated to the university in Vijayawada. Admission rests on AIAPGET 2026 ranks. The university will verify the certificates candidates upload, then publish a provisional merit list, and allot seats through web options after that. All India Quota seats follow a separate process run by the Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee, so candidates can take part in both.
Who can apply
Applicants need a BAMS degree from a recognised institution, registration as a medical practitioner with a state or central council, and a qualifying score in AIAPGET 2026. The compulsory rotatory internship must be complete by October 31, 2026.
The minimum scores come from Ministry of AYUSH guidelines. General and EWS candidates need the 50th percentile, which is 115 marks. OBC, SC and ST candidates need the 40th percentile, or 97 marks. For persons with benchmark disability, the bar is the 45th percentile (108 marks) for general category candidates, and the 40th percentile for OBC (105 marks) and SC (98 marks) candidates.
In-service candidates get extra weightage for service completed by October 31, 2026: 8 percent per year of rural service and 10 percent per year of tribal service, up to three years in each case. Candidates who already hold an MD or MS (Ayurveda) degree cannot apply. Those already studying such a course must discontinue it first, repay the bond amount and stipend taken so far, and submit a discontinuance certificate from the head of their institution.
Fees and documents
OC and BC candidates pay a Rs 6,000 registration fee, while SC and ST candidates pay Rs 5,000. Every applicant also pays a Rs 3,000 verification fee, so the total comes to Rs 9,000 for OC and BC candidates and Rs 8,000 for SC and ST candidates. The fee is paid online by debit card, credit card or net banking.
Candidates should keep their documents scanned and ready before starting the form. The list includes the AIAPGET 2026 rank card, SSC marks memo, BAMS degree certificate, study certificates, internship certificate, council registration certificate, transfer certificate, Aadhaar card, a recent passport-size photo and a specimen signature. Caste, minority and EWS certificates are needed where they apply. Our admission documents checklist covers the papers most portals ask for, and it is worth reading before uploading anything.
How to apply
Registration runs only on the official admission portal. Candidates register with their AIAPGET 2026 details and mobile number, fill in personal, academic and category details, upload the scanned certificates, pay the fee and submit. The university advises saving a copy of the submitted form. It will not send individual communications, so applicants should watch the university website for the merit list, seat matrix and web options schedule.
Joining candidates sign a bond on Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper to complete the course, with Rs 50,000 payable in default. Postgraduate students must also put in at least 75 percent attendance to appear in university examinations.
