If the October 10 cutoff for NMAT passed you by, the window is open again. The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has extended the NMAT by GMAC 2026 registration deadline to October 25, 2026. Slot booking has moved by the same date, so anyone who registers now can still pick a test slot.
Registration stays on the official site. The original schedule closed on October 10, and the 15-day extension applies to fresh registrations and slot selection.
Dates and fees
- Registration opens: August 20, 2026
- Registration and slot booking close: October 25, 2026
- Exam window: November 2 to December 20, 2026
- Admit card issuance: October 26 to December 17, 2026
- Retake registration: November 3 to December 17, 2026
The fee is Rs 3,000 plus taxes for one attempt, and each retake also costs Rs 3,000. Late registration is listed at Rs 3,500 and rescheduling at Rs 1,500, so booking a firm slot early is the cheaper option.
Applications go through the official NMAT registration page on mba.com.
What the exam looks like
GMAC is running NMAT 2026 only at physical test centres this cycle, at nearly 64 centres across 59 cities. The paper has 108 questions to be answered in 120 minutes, with equal weightage on the three sections. There is no negative marking.
One practical detail: your score appears on screen the moment you finish the test, and the official scorecard follows 48 hours later. After the first attempt, candidates get up to two retake attempts in the same cycle.
Which schools take NMAT
More than 60 institutes accept NMAT scores for MBA and PGDM programmes. The list includes Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai, SPJIMR for its Global Management Programme, the Indian School of Business for its Advanced Management Programme in Business Analytics, XIM University, Great Lakes Institute of Management and TAPMI.
Registering for the exam is not the same as applying to these schools. Each institute runs its own application process with its own deadline, so check them separately rather than assuming the October 25 extension covers them. If you are still shortlisting, our guide to choosing a university in India can help narrow the list.
How to register
Create an account on the official portal, fill the form, pay the fee and then book your slot within the same window. Slots are allotted first-come, first-served. Keep a photo and a valid ID ready before you start; our admission documents checklist covers the scans most application portals ask for.
