The Medical Counselling Committee released the provisional allotment list for the NEET UG 2026 special stray vacancy round on November 5, two days before the November 7 date in its published schedule. The list covers MBBS seats in the special stray round and BDS and BSc Nursing seats in the fifth round of counselling.
Across the three courses, the list carries 811 allotment entries. MBBS accounts for 537 of them, BDS for 208 and BSc Nursing for 66. The MBBS figure is the one that stands out. The seat matrix for this round showed 946 vacant MBBS seats, so 537 allotments means about 56.8 percent of the seats found a candidate. The other 409 MBBS seats had no allotment in this round.
What the list shows
The provisional list is a PDF on the MCC website. Each entry carries the candidate’s NEET rank and roll number, the allotted institute and course, the quota and category, and the allotment remarks. Candidates are expected to check every detail against their own records, since this is a provisional list and corrections are still possible before the final version.
Medical colleges in the list include Nilratan Sircar Medical College in Kolkata, AIIMS Madurai, Calcutta National Medical College, and the University College of Medical Sciences and GTB Hospital in New Delhi. Dental seats went to institutes including the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences in New Delhi, the Faculty of Dentistry at Jamia Millia Islamia, Government Dental College in Shimla, Thrissur, Raipur and Alappuzha, and Goa Dental College and Hospital. Several medical and dental colleges in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu also appear.
For BSc Nursing, the list includes the College of Nursing at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Banaras Hindu University, Safdarjung Hospital, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Why so many MBBS seats stayed empty
The vacancy list for this round had grown by 109 seats after candidates allotted seats in the previous stray round did not join their colleges. Most of the vacant seats are in deemed universities in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, where annual fees run high, which is one reason the seats kept going unfilled round after round.
How to check your allotment
Candidates can check the list on the official MCC website. Open the UG Medical Counselling section, go to the current events area, and click the link titled “Provisional Result for UG Counselling Special Stray Vacancy Round for MBBS and 5th Round of BDS/BSc Nursing 2026”. What allotted candidates must do next
Candidates who have been allotted a seat must report to the allotted college between November 7 and 16, 2026. Reporting means completing admission formalities and document verification at the college, and candidates who do not report in time risk losing the seat. Our admission documents checklist covers what most institutes ask for at verification, so it is worth reading before travelling to the college.
The provisional list can still change. The published schedule had marked November 7 for the result, so candidates should keep checking mcc.nic.in for the final list before they report.
