The final list is out. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) published the NEET PG 2026 Round 1 final seat allotment on October 24, a day after the provisional list went up. Candidates can check the college and course allotted to them on the official MCC website.

This round covers 50 percent All India Quota seats for MD, MS and DNB courses, along with seats in deemed universities and central universities. The exam itself was held on August 30, and the National Board of Examinations declared the result on September 24. State quota counselling runs separately, and our guide to central, state and private universities explains how the two tracks differ.

Reporting starts Monday

A seat only becomes an admission after reporting. Allotted candidates have to report to their colleges between October 26 and November 2 to finish document verification, fee payment and the rest of the admission formalities. Institutes will then verify the details of joined candidates and send them to MCC on November 3.

Download the allotment letter first and read its instructions: each college can ask for papers beyond the standard set.

Candidates should carry originals plus photocopies of the NEET PG admit card, the scorecard or rank letter, the allotment letter, the MBBS degree or provisional certificate, MBBS marksheets, the internship completion certificate and the medical registration certificate. A Class 10 certificate or other proof of date of birth, a valid photo identity proof and recent passport-size photographs are also required. Category, EWS, PwBD and NRI documents apply where relevant. Our admission documents checklist runs through the standard set so nothing is missing at the verification counter.

Candidates who do not report in time, or who cannot meet the admission requirements, risk losing the seat.

Freeze or Float, now online

The joining choice is where this year differs from earlier rounds. Candidates who want to keep the seat choose Freeze and report physically to the allotted college. Candidates who want a better seat in a later round choose Float, which keeps them eligible for an upgrade. Float candidates do not have to travel for the willingness step this time. They upload their documents for verification online through the MCC portal.

Earlier, candidates had to report in person just to register their willingness for an upgrade. That step is now online, which matters for candidates allotted colleges far from home.

There is one more relief in Round 1. The exit is free. A candidate who decides not to take the allotted seat loses nothing from the security deposit and can try again in the next round.

Other changes this year

The NRI quota process has also moved online, including document submission and verification. For candidates with benchmark disabilities, MCC has expanded the medical assessment boards from 16 to 65 and added appellate boards. The internship completion cut-off moved from July 31 to September 30, 2026. MCC has also set up a 24-hour help desk and a dedicated email address, mcc2026@gov.in, for counselling queries.

For those aiming higher, Round 2 registration runs November 6 to 11, choice filling November 7 to 12, and the result comes out November 14, with reporting from November 16 to 23. MCC has kept the schedule tentative, so each date should be rechecked on the official website before the stage begins.
