The first list is out. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) uploaded the provisional NEET PG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment result on Friday, October 23, and 28,728 candidates have a seat against their names. That word matters: the list is still provisional, and anyone who spots an error in their allotment has only a few hours to flag it.

JagranJosh reports that the ‘Candidates Grievances and Query Redressal System’ on the candidate login portal closes at 11:30 am today, October 24. A rank mismatch, a wrong category tag, any such discrepancy has to go in before that deadline. MCC is expected to publish the final allotment result by the evening.

The provisional result PDF sits on the official MCC website, open to everyone. The seat allotment letter, needed at the reporting college, comes through the candidate login. According to Shiksha, the result lists each candidate’s roll number, NEET PG rank, allotted institute and course, category and quota, so check every one of those fields before the grievance window shuts.

Reporting runs October 26 to November 2

A seat only becomes an admission after reporting. Candidates allotted in Round 1 have from October 26 to November 2 to reach their colleges and complete the formalities, and MCC will verify the data of joined candidates on November 3. Carry originals plus photocopies of everything the allotment letter asks for. Our admission documents checklist covers the standard set, so nothing is missing at the verification counter.

MCC handles half the All India Quota postgraduate medical seats, plus the seats in deemed and central universities. State counselling authorities handle the remaining state-quota postgraduate seats.

Freeze or Float: the joining choice

MCC’s new joining options decide what happens next. Candidates happy with their seat choose Freeze and report to the college in person to lock it in. Those hoping for a better seat in a later round choose Float: the allotment stays in hand, they remain eligible for an upgrade, and document verification happens online without a college visit. Exit in Round 1 stays free, so walking away from the allotment costs no part of the security deposit.

For anyone who skipped this round or wants to move up, Round 2 registration opens November 6.
