Four days. That is what candidates have left to finish their admission through the University of Mumbai’s Centralised Admission Process. The university has extended the CAP admission deadline for the 2026-27 session to October 16, 2026, acting on directions from the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell.
The extension covers eight professional programmes. At the undergraduate level it applies to Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Management Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer Applications and Direct Second Year Engineering. At the postgraduate level it covers Master of Computer Applications, Master of Management Studies and Master of Engineering. Registration happens only through the official Samarth admission portal.
The deadline means completion, not just registration
October 16 is the last day to complete admission, which matters for a specific group: candidates who already have an allotment from an earlier CAP round but never finished the formalities. A seat allotment is not an admission. Seats are confirmed only after fees are paid and documents are verified, so anyone sitting on an allotment should log in to the portal and check their current status rather than assume the extension locks it in automatically.
Who should use this window
The extension helps two groups. First, students who missed the earlier CAP rounds for any of the eight programmes and still have no seat. Second, students who have an allotment but stopped short of completing the paperwork. In both cases the portal is the place to act, since the CAP process does not accept offline applications.
This admission season has seen the CET Cell revise the CAP schedule more than once. Treat this revised date as the final one and do not wait until October 16 itself, when portals tend to slow down under last-day traffic.
How to register
Applications go through the official Samarth admission portal. The usual flow is online registration, document upload and fee payment, so keep the CET scorecard, qualifying-exam mark sheets and identity proof ready before starting. Our admission documents checklist covers the paperwork most candidates need, which can save a full evening of back-and-forth.
