Monday, October 19 is result day for the final central round of this year’s medical admissions. The Medical Counselling Committee will declare the NEET UG 2026 stray vacancy round seat allotment on Monday, with seat processing running October 17 and 18.
The stray vacancy round is the final phase of the central counselling process. It is filling 4,068 vacant seats: 3,426 MBBS, 499 BDS and 143 B.Sc Nursing, according to the MCC seat matrix. The round covers the 15% All India Quota seats along with 100% of the seats in deemed universities, central universities, AIIMS institutes and AFMC. The remaining 85% state quota seats are handled by each state’s own counselling authority.
The final timetable
| Counselling event | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration | Closed October 16, 4 pm |
| RESET registration option | Closed October 16, 3 pm |
| Fee payment | Closed October 16, 6 pm |
| Choice filling | Closed October 16, 11:55 pm |
| Choice locking | Closed October 16, 7 pm to 11:55 pm |

| Seat allotment result | October 19, 2026 |
| Reporting to allotted colleges | October 19 to 26, 2026 |
The result date has moved once already. In an earlier timetable it was October 17; the MCC shifted it to October 19 when it extended the registration and choice-filling window earlier this week. The notice on the MCC website is the one to trust over old screenshots circulating on social media.
How to check the result
Go to the official MCC portal, open the UG Medical Counselling section and look under Current Events. Log in with the credentials you used during registration. Download the allotment list and save your individual allotment letter, since you will need a printout at the college.
If you get a seat
Reporting opens the same day the result is declared and runs till October 26. Candidates must report in person to the allotted college for verification and admission, carrying original certificates and the admission fee.
The usual list: NEET UG admit card and rank card, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, a valid ID proof, category or PwD certificates where applicable, and the allotment letter. An admission documents checklist can save a scramble in that week, and candidates who may need financial help should look at scholarships for Indian university students early rather than after joining.
One practical point: because reporting starts on result day itself, candidates who live far from the allotted college should keep travel and accommodation plans ready in advance rather than booking after the result.
If you don’t get a seat
The stray vacancy round is the last central round, so this is where the MCC’s part of the counselling ends for 2026. State counselling authorities run their own mop-up and stray rounds separately for state quota seats, so candidates should also watch their own state’s counselling portal.
