Today, November 2, is the last day for candidates allotted a seat in MCC NEET PG Round 1 to report to their college and complete joining. The window opened on October 26, and anyone who has not finished the process by the end of today stands to lose the seat. The Medical Counselling Committee allotted 28,723 seats in this round.

The round covers 50 percent All India Quota seats along with seats in deemed universities, central universities and DNB courses. Reporting means turning up in person at the allotted institute with original documents. Colleges then verify the details of joined candidates and share that data with MCC on November 3. Candidates should download their allotment letter from the official MCC portal before they leave for the institute.

Missing today still leaves Round 2 open

Round 1 is the forgiving round. It carries a free exit, so a candidate who does not join can come back for Round 2 without losing eligibility. That is the one comfort for anyone who cannot make it today, whether the reason is a document problem or a decision to wait for a better seat.

The rules tighten from Round 2 onward. A candidate who joins in Round 1 and opts for an upgrade will have the Round 1 seat cancelled automatically if a better seat comes through in Round 2. And once Round 2 allotment is out, not joining leads to forfeiture of the security deposit. So the decision to sit out Round 1 is safe, but sitting out a later round is not.

Round 2 dates to keep ready

Round 2 registration and payment run from November 6 to November 11, with registration closing at 12 noon and payment at 3 pm on November 11. Choice filling runs from November 7 to November 12, up to 10 am on the last day. The Round 2 result is due on November 14, and reporting and joining run from November 16 to November 23.

Candidates who missed Round 1 entirely should use the gap between now and November 6 to get their documents in order. The admission documents checklist covers the papers institutes usually ask for at reporting, and sorting them now beats discovering a missing certificate on the day of joining.

State quota runs on a different clock

State counselling for Round 1 is running alongside the national round, and its dates do not match. The last date of joining for state Round 1 seats is November 10, a week after the MCC deadline. Candidates holding a state quota seat should follow their state authority’s schedule rather than today’s MCC cutoff, and candidates holding both kinds of seats need to be clear about which deadline applies to which allotment.

Government medical colleges such as King George’s Medical University in Lucknow and central universities such as Banaras Hindu University fill part of their PG seats through this counselling, so the same reporting rules apply across a long list of institutes. The MCC schedule is tentative, so candidates should check the MCC portal for fresh notices before acting on any date here.
