Doctors waiting to register for the second round of NEET PG 2026 counselling will have to wait one more day. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has moved the start of Round 2 registration from November 6 to November 7, after the National Medical Commission (NMC) sent it a fresh list of newly approved postgraduate medical seats.

The NMC sent the seat matrix to MCC on November 3. The list covers postgraduate seats that were approved after the earlier matrix, including seats with increased intake and seats in new courses. Before those seats can enter the counselling pool, each institute has to check its own entries and apply the reservation roster. That verification runs until November 6.

MCC has said the Round 2 schedule will be rescheduled from November 7 onwards. Registration opens on November 7, but the full revised day-wise timetable is still awaited. Candidates should not treat the earlier dates as final until MCC publishes the updated schedule.

What Round 2 covers

Round 2 handles admissions to MD, MS and PG Diploma courses through the 50 percent All India Quota seats, along with all seats in deemed universities, central universities and AFMS institutes. Round 1 of the same counselling ended with the final allotment on October 24, and reporting at the allotted colleges closed on November 2.

Under the timetable MCC published earlier, choice filling was to run from November 7 to 12, with the seat allotment result on November 14. Those dates now depend on the revised schedule, and the revised seat matrix will show which of the newly approved seats are actually available in this round.

What candidates should do now

The one-day shift is short, but the new seats change the calculation for many candidates. A college or branch that was not in the Round 1 matrix may appear in Round 2, so it is worth waiting for the revised matrix before locking preferences.

Candidates should keep their documents ready for registration and reporting. The admission documents checklist covers the scorecard, MBBS degree, internship certificate and registration papers that colleges ask for at verification. Those weighing whether to take a seat in this round or try for an upgrade later can work through how to choose a university in India before the next round opens.

Registration and the revised schedule will appear on the official MCC PG counselling portal. Candidates should check that page for the latest dates, since the old timetable no longer holds.
