The choice filling and choice locking window for Round 1 of NEET PG 2026 counselling closed at 10 AM today. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) had kept the choice filling facility open until 10 AM on October 22, while choice locking, which began on October 21, shut at the same cutoff. Candidates who did not enter any preferences will get no seat allotment in this round.
Once the window closed, the choices entered by candidates were locked automatically. Nobody can now log in to add, change, or rearrange preferences. Candidates are advised to download or print a copy of their submitted preferences and keep it for reference.
Registered candidates filled their choices on the official MCC website. The process ran through the PG Medical Counselling section: log in with the NEET PG credentials, open the choice filling option, select colleges and courses in order of preference, review the list, then save and lock it.
Allotment result on October 24
The MCC will now process seat allotment on October 22 and 23, matching preferences against NEET PG merit, reservation rules, and available seats. The provisional Round 1 seat allotment result is due on October 24.
Candidates who get a seat must report to the allotted institute between October 26 and November 2 to complete admission formalities and document verification. Verification of joined candidates’ data is scheduled for November 3.
Which seats this round covers
This round covers the 50% All India Quota postgraduate medical seats and seats in participating deemed and central universities. That includes the PG seats of central universities such as Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, and the University of Delhi, along with government medical colleges such as King George’s Medical University, whose AIQ seats are filled through this counselling.
Missed the deadline?
Candidates who did not fill or lock their choices sit out the Round 1 allotment. Fresh registration is needed for every round of MCC counselling, so anyone who missed this one should watch the official portal for the next round’s schedule.
Reporting season is also document season. Keep the MBBS degree certificate, NEET PG admit card and result, internship completion certificate, registration certificate, identity proof, and a valid category certificate ready before October 26. Our admission documents checklist lists the scans and certificates worth keeping on hand.
