October 29 is the last day to claim one of the 14,877 pharmacy seats still vacant in Maharashtra. The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell said in a press release on October 28 that the institutional round for first-year B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D admissions closes today, after running since October 25.
The seats are spread across 528 pharmacy colleges in the state. Four centralised admission process (CAP) rounds have already filled 29,040 of the 47,192 seats on offer for the 2026-27 academic year. What remains is now filled at the college level, which means candidates deal directly with the institution rather than through the centralised allotment system.
Four rounds filled 29,040 seats
Round one did most of the work. It admitted 16,734 students. Round two added 7,432, round three 2,960 and round four 1,914, taking the total to 29,040.
| CAP round | Students admitted |
|---|---|
| Round one | 16,734 |
| Round two | 7,432 |
| Round three | 2,960 |
| Round four | 1,914 |
| Total | 29,040 |
The two courses in this process are different lengths. B.Pharmacy is a four-year full-time undergraduate degree, while Pharm.D runs for six years. Both are covered by the same centralised process and the same institutional round.
What is still open, and what is not
The 14,877 vacant seats are the headline figure, but two smaller categories sit alongside it. Another 1,990 management quota seats are available for institutional round admissions. Separately, 3,275 seats under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) categories are not part of this round at all. That figure breaks down into 2,866 EWS seats and 409 TFWS seats, and those seats are filled only through the CAP rounds.
That distinction matters for anyone checking a college’s vacancy list today. A seat shown as vacant in the institutional round is not necessarily open to every category, and the EWS and TFWS seats follow their own route.
What to do today
Candidates who still want a seat should approach the college directly, since this round is handled at the institutional level. Carry the documents and fees needed to complete admission on the spot, because the window closes at the end of today and the CET Cell has not announced any further extension. Our admission documents checklist covers the papers colleges usually ask for, from mark sheets to category certificates.
Candidates can also check the official admission portal for allotment and admission details from the centralised rounds. Anyone who was allotted a seat in an earlier round and has already reported to a college is not affected by today’s deadline. It applies to the seats that are still unfilled.
For students still deciding between colleges, the vacancy numbers cut both ways. A large number of open seats means choice, but it also means checking why a particular college still has seats, what its fees are and whether its approvals are in order before paying anything.
