A zero in the entrance test no longer shuts the door on a nursing seat in Maharashtra. The Indian Nursing Council has relaxed the qualifying criteria for BSc Nursing admissions to zero percentile for the 2026-27 academic year, and the admission deadline now runs to November 15, 2026.
Until now, a minimum CET percentile stood between these candidates and a seat. That bar is gone for this session. Any candidate who appeared for the Maharashtra BSc Nursing CET can now be considered for admission, whatever percentile they scored.
The relaxation is recorded in the council’s own notifications for this cycle. Notification No. 23 of 2026 relaxes the minimum qualifying criteria of the CET for admission to BSc Nursing for 2026-27, and Notification No. 21 of 2026 extends nursing admissions to November 15.
Why the bar was lowered
The change is aimed at seats that stayed empty after the regular rounds. The state CET Cell has moved to an institutional round to fill them, and the relaxed criteria widen the pool of candidates who can take part.
The institutional round covers seats left vacant after the three centralised admission process rounds. Candidates who skipped the earlier rounds can join this one. Those who already hold a seat cannot take part unless they cancel it first.
BSc Nursing colleges in Maharashtra are affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in Nashik, and admissions run through the state CET Cell.
The schedule to follow
Registration for newly eligible candidates opened on November 3, 2026, under the CET Cell’s Notice No. 05. The combined registered candidate list and merit list will be published on November 7.
Candidates then apply directly to colleges between November 8 and 10, up to 5:30 PM. Reporting for residual vacancies with original documents and fees is on November 15, up to 2 PM. Residual vacancies are filled on merit from 3 PM the same day, and November 15 is the admission cut-off date.
The whole process runs on the official CET Cell admission portal, where the notice and the schedule are published.
What candidates should do now
First, check the portal for Notice No. 05 and confirm the registration steps for newly eligible candidates. Candidates who registered in earlier rounds do not need to register again for this stage.
Second, keep the documents ready before the November 8 window opens. Our admission documents checklist covers the papers counselling centres commonly ask for, including original certificates and fee payment proof.
Third, note the November 15 cut-off. Reporting closes at 2 PM that day, and the residual vacancy filling starts at 3 PM. A candidate who misses the reporting time loses the chance at the remaining seats.
The window is short and it is the last round. Candidates who sat the CET and assumed their score had ruled them out should check the portal and register while the round is open.
