The last round of MBBS counselling in Telangana is now open, and the window is short. Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences issued its mop-up phase notification on October 12, and candidates have until 5 PM on October 14 to submit their web options for 363 vacant convener quota seats.
The university publishes its notifications at knruhs.telangana.gov.in, and options are submitted through the official counselling portal. The seat availability list is up on the university site, and candidates are advised to check college-wise vacancies across government, private unaided non-minority and minority medical colleges before locking their preferences. Vacancies can shift during the round as candidates slide between colleges, so the list is worth checking more than once.
Who can take part
The eligibility line is drawn from the university’s own notifications. Candidates must have qualified NEET UG 2026 and have their names in the KNRUHS final merit list.
The university has shut the door on three groups. Candidates who did not exercise web options in the first phase cannot participate now. Candidates who were allotted seats in earlier rounds and did not join are out. And candidates who joined a college and later discontinued the course are excluded as well. The university also published the names of second-phase non-reporting candidates and free-exit discontinued candidates, so these lists are final.
The ₹20 lakh warning
This is the detail candidates should read twice. The university has stated that candidates who fail to join after seat allotment, or who discontinue the course, will pay a ₹20 lakh penalty and face a three-year debarment from admissions.
Mop-up is the final round, so the stakes are real. The penalty is meant to stop candidates from blocking a seat and abandoning it late. A candidate who is unsure about taking up medicine in Telangana this year should think it through before exercising options rather than risking the fine. If you are allotted a seat, keep your documents ready for reporting, and our admission documents checklist covers what colleges usually ask for.
Two colleges get more seats
Two private medical colleges enter the mop-up round with bigger intakes. TRR Institute of Medical Sciences and Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences have each increased their MBBS seats from 150 to 200. Of the 50 additional seats at each college, half go to the convener quota and half to the management quota. These enhanced seats are included in the vacancy list for this round.
