At 4 this evening, Kerala’s window for postgraduate medical admissions shut. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala stopped accepting online applications for PG Medical (Degree) Courses 2026-27 at 4 PM on October 16, exactly as the notification had announced.
The registration covered two kinds of seats: state quota seats in government medical colleges and the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in Thiruvananthapuram, and every seat in the state’s private self-financing medical colleges, including minority and NRI quota seats. It is the same state-quota-versus-private split our central vs state vs private university guide breaks down. Only candidates who qualified NEET PG 2026 could apply.
How the application worked
Candidates registered on the CEE Kerala portal using their NEET roll number, rank and date of birth to generate an application number. After filling in personal and academic details, they paid the fee online, uploaded a photograph, signature and supporting certificates, and printed the final acknowledgement page for their records.
What it cost
The application fee was Rs 1,000 for general and service quota candidates and Rs 500 for SC/ST candidates and others eligible for SC/ST benefits. Service quota candidates who also applied for a general seat had to pay an additional Rs 1,000. Once paid, the fee was not refunded.
Who was eligible
Applicants needed a recognised MBBS degree with registration at the NMC or a state medical council, and a completed one-year internship. On nativity, the broad rule was Indian citizens of Kerala origin. There were exceptions: OCI cardholders could take unreserved and NRI seats, non-Keralites who earned their MBBS in Kerala could apply without claiming reservation benefits, and non-Keralite service doctors could apply under the service quota following a Kerala High Court order.
The notification was strict about paperwork. Certificates had to be uploaded within the deadline, because defective or incomplete applications are summarily rejected, and no correspondence is entertained about them. No information or document could be added after the last date. In-service candidates faced a second deadline today: the acknowledgement printout along with service documents had to reach the Head of the department by 5 PM on October 16. Candidates for NRI quota seats had to upload their certificates during the online application itself.
What comes next
CEE Kerala will now prepare the state rank list from NEET PG 2026 ranks, and seats will be allotted through a centralised allotment process run by the Commissioner. Candidates who applied should keep their original documents ready for verification, our admission documents checklist covers what colleges typically ask for. The next announcements will appear on the official CEE Kerala website.
If you missed the deadline, the notification offered no late window, so the next move is to track the CEE Kerala portal for any further counselling rounds and keep your documents in order.
