The Karnataka Examinations Authority closes Round 1 option entry for NEET PG 2026 counselling at 4 pm today, November 2. Candidates who qualified in NEET PG and registered for the state round must have their college and course preferences submitted on the official KEA portal before the portal shuts.

The window opened on October 30, after the Medical Education Department published the Round 1 seat matrix. This round covers postgraduate medical seats in government and private colleges across Karnataka, for MD, MS, diploma and DNB courses. It is open to eligible non-inservice candidates who cleared NEET PG 2026 and completed registration, which closed on October 25.

What happens after 4 pm today

The schedule moves quickly once option entry closes. KEA will publish the mock seat allotment result at 4 pm on November 3. That mock result is a trial run based on the preferences submitted, and it gives candidates a chance to see where they stand before the real allotment.

From 5 pm on November 3 until 10 am on November 5, candidates can modify, add or delete their options. KEA executive director H. Prasanna set out this sequence when the authority announced the first-round schedule. The provisional seat allotment result follows at 8 pm on November 5, and the final result is declared at 11 am on November 6.

Why the order of your options matters

The preferences entered now do more work than most candidates realise. KEA has said the options submitted in Round 1 remain valid for Round 2 as well, and candidates do not get a fresh option entry round for the second allotment. That makes the mock allotment window the practical moment to fix mistakes.

A candidate who lists a college low down the order out of caution, or leaves out a course they would accept, will live with that order in the next round too. The sensible use of November 3 to 5 is to check the mock result against the seat matrix, move realistic choices higher, and drop options that no longer make sense. Once the modification window closes at 10 am on November 5, the list is locked in for the provisional allotment that evening.

Candidates heading into reporting should also keep their papers ready. Our admission documents checklist covers the certificates and identity proofs that colleges ask for at verification, and sorting those out now avoids a last-minute scramble after allotment.

Who can take part in this round

Only candidates who registered for Karnataka NEET PG counselling and completed the earlier steps, including document verification and slot booking, can enter options. The round is for non-inservice candidates, and allotment follows NEET PG merit, the seat matrix and the order of preferences each candidate submits.

Anyone who has not entered options by 4 pm today will not figure in the mock allotment on November 3, and will miss the modification window that follows it. With the provisional result due on November 5 and the final result on November 6, there is little room to recover a missed deadline in this round.
