Tomorrow is the last day to register. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has extended registration for Round 1 of NEET PG 2026 counselling to October 25, 2026, giving candidates ten extra days beyond the original October 15 deadline. Anyone who qualified in NEET PG 2026 and wants a postgraduate medical seat under the Karnataka state quota needs to finish the application before the window closes.

The round covers MD, MS and postgraduate diploma courses in medical colleges across the state. Seats are allotted on the basis of NEET PG 2026 scores, and the counselling is run separately from the all India quota round handled by the Medical Counselling Committee. Our guide to central, state and private universities explains how the state quota differs from the national round.

How to register

Registration runs on the official KEA portal. Candidates should go to cetonline.karnataka.gov.in, open the PGET 2026 section, and click the PG NEET online registration link. The form asks for personal and academic details, and the application fee has to be paid online before submission. Save the form, submit it, and keep a copy of the confirmation page.

KEA has made one point clear: only candidates who complete registration within the window are considered for the later stages of counselling and seat allotment. An incomplete form, or a form finished after October 25, does not carry forward.

The extension is the second chance in this cycle. Registration first opened on October 5 with an October 15 closing date, and document verification has been running offline at KEA in Bengaluru on booked slots since October 8. Candidates who registered early should still check their slot and verification status on the portal, since a submitted form alone does not complete the process.

What comes after registration

Once the window closes, KEA is expected to move to document verification and then seat allotment. No fresh registration window has been announced for this round, so candidates who miss October 25 would have to wait for a later round, if one is notified.

It is worth getting the paperwork ready now. The allotment letter and verification stage ask for the MBBS degree, the NEET PG scorecard, internship completion papers and registration certificates, among other documents. Our admission documents checklist runs through the standard set so nothing is missing when verification begins.

Candidates should also recheck the portal for the verification schedule and the seat matrix rather than relying on secondhand dates. KEA publishes each stage on cetonline.karnataka.gov.in, and the dates for choice filling and allotment will appear there first.
