Correction (October 19, 2026): JNU has extended its PhD 2026-27 schedule. The application deadline is now October 20, 2026 (11:50 PM), and the correction window the article below describes as closing October 18 now runs October 21 and 22, 2026 β applicants can still edit their forms. Read the revised timeline at the end of the article.
If you submitted a PhD application to Jawaharlal Nehru University this month, you get another chance to correct it. JNU revised its PhD 2026-27 schedule on October 19: the correction window now runs on October 21 and 22.
What the correction window covers
The correction facility is open on October 21 and 22, 2026, for the applications filed between October 6 and October 20, when the main registration window closes. Corrections are made online only, directly in the application form.
That is a two-day window. Do not leave it for the last hour. Admission portals slow down badly under deadline traffic, and once the window closes the form is final.
Fix the form on the official portal
Corrections go through the official JNU admission portal. Log in with your registered credentials and open your application. The portal allows corrections to the particulars it shows as editable, so work through every section, not just the one you suspect has an error. Names, date of birth, category and academic entries are the fields worth checking against your documents, since small mismatches are exactly the kind of thing that causes trouble at the physical verification stage.
Applicants who applied under more than one category should check each form separately. JNU required a separate application for each route, so a correction made in one form does not carry over to the others.
The university’s revised PhD schedule lists October 21 and 22 as the correction dates. Keep your scorecard and certificates next to you while you work, and save the updated form before you log out.
Who is in this admission round
JNU is running its 2026-27 PhD admissions through UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, JRF and GATE scores. A master’s degree with at least 55 percent marks is the minimum requirement, with 50 percent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. The GATE route is open only for engineering disciplines. Applications were accepted online only, through the same portal where corrections are now open.
