The official JEE Main website changed again on October 24, 2026, and engineering aspirants noticed within hours. The National Testing Agency (NTA) site at jeemain.nta.nic.in now carries October 24 as its latest update date, and notices from the previous examination cycle have been removed. It was the third update this month, after changes on October 19 and October 22.
What has not changed is the one thing candidates are waiting for. The JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration link is still not active, and NTA has not announced application dates or released the information bulletin. For now, the site is being prepared, but applications have not opened.
Why the update still matters
It does show NTA clearing the old cycle out of the way, the usual step before a new session goes live. In the last two cycles, registration opened in the final week of October. For JEE Main 2026, NTA began accepting Session 1 applications on October 31, 2025, and kept the window open until November 27, 2025. The cycle before that opened on October 28, 2024.
Some reports now suggest the application link could appear by October 31 this year. That date is not confirmed by NTA, and past patterns are only a guide. Until the agency publishes the information bulletin, no opening date or deadline should be treated as final.
What is already fixed: the exam dates
While the registration schedule is still awaited, the Session 1 examination dates are already announced. JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will be held on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30, 2027, with January 31 kept as a buffer day. The examination runs in two shifts each day, from 9 am to 12 noon and from 3 pm to 6 pm.
JEE Main is the national entrance test for engineering, architecture and planning admissions. Paper 1 covers B.E. and B.Tech courses, Paper 2A covers B.Arch, and Paper 2B covers B.Planning. Scores decide admission to National Institutes of Technology, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutes, and the top 2,50,000 qualifiers become eligible for JEE Advanced, the gateway to the 23 IITs.
What to keep ready before the link goes live
Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027, are expected to be eligible, subject to the final bulletin rules. JEE Main 2026 had no upper age limit, but applicants should check the 2027 bulletin rather than assume the same rules carry over.
The practical step right now is paperwork: a scanned photograph and signature, the Class 10 certificate or marksheet, a category or PwD certificate if applicable, and an active mobile number and email ID. Our admission documents checklist runs through the standard set so nothing is missing at the last minute. Once the link is activated on the official JEE Main website, the process will follow the usual sequence: register, fill the form, pay the fee, and download the confirmation page.
The honest position for today is simple. The website moved, the form did not. Check jeemain.nta.nic.in directly for the bulletin, and ignore any date that does not come from NTA itself.
