JEE Main 2027 Session 1 applicants will meet a new login step before they get to the form itself. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has added MeriPehchaan, a government single sign-on service, to the registration process. The Session 1 window opened on October 24, 2026, and closes on November 22, 2026, at 11:50 pm. Applications go through the official JEE Main portal.
MeriPehchaan was developed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It brings together identity providers such as JanParichay, DigiLocker and e-Pramaan, and it supports eKYC verification using Aadhaar, PAN, a driving licence or APAAR, according to the information bulletin reported by Careers360.
How the new login works
Candidates first create a MeriPehchaan account on the government portal at meripehchaan.gov.in, choosing DigiLocker, e-Pramaan or JanParichay as the provider. They enter basic details such as name, date of birth and mobile number, then complete identity verification through one of the accepted methods. Once that account is set up, candidates return to the JEE Main portal and follow the application instructions there, keeping the application number and password generated during registration safe for later logins.
The verification instructions displayed during the application are the ones candidates should follow. Different applicants will see different options depending on the provider and the identity document they hold.
The live photo stays in the form
Alongside the new login, the live photograph requirement continues from the 2026 process. During the application, candidates capture a live photo using a webcam or a phone camera, alongside the passport-size photograph uploaded in the form. A device without a working camera can stall the form at this step, so it helps to have the camera ready and a plain background behind you before starting.
Dates to remember
The Session 1 schedule leaves little room for a late start. Registration closes on November 22, 2026, at 11:50 pm. Candidates who miss that date can still apply from November 23 to November 26, 2026, with an extra late fee of Rs 500. The correction window runs from November 27 to November 29, 2026. The examination city intimation slip follows on December 30, 2026, and admit cards on January 13, 2027. The Session 1 exam is scheduled for January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, 2027. Paper 1 covers BE and BTech admissions, Paper 2A covers BArch, and Paper 2B covers BPlanning.
JEE Main is the route into NITs and other centrally funded technical institutes, and it is also the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which governs admission to IITs such as IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay.
Before you start the form
The form asks for personal details, Class 10 and Class 12 academic details, category details and identity details, including the Aadhaar number where applicable. Candidates should keep their Class 10 certificate, a recent photograph, their signature and any category certificate ready before they begin. Our admission documents checklist runs through the standard set. Applicants should also read the official information bulletin before submitting, and keep the confirmation page after payment. Students comparing engineering institutes can read our guide on how to choose a university in India while they wait for the exam dates.
