IIT Madras has opened applications for the 2027 batch of its two-year Executive MBA programme, and working professionals have 13 days left: the application window closes on October 26, 2026.
The programme is run by the institute’s Department of Management Studies (DoMS) and is built for mid-career professionals who want a management degree without pausing their careers. Classes follow a blended format on alternate weekends, combining on-campus sessions with virtual classes. The new batch begins in January 2027.
Applications opened on September 12 and must be submitted before 11:59 pm on October 26. Forms go through the official admission portal, and candidates are advised to complete registration and the fee payment before the cutoff rather than wait for the final day.
Who can apply
The basic requirement is a first-class bachelor’s degree in any discipline, which means at least 60 per cent marks, relaxed to 55 per cent for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Applicants also need a minimum of three years of industry experience after graduation, counted as of December 31, 2026. More details on the institute itself are on the IIT Madras profile page.
The selection process starts with an entrance examination conducted by DoMS, followed by a personal interview.
How the programme is structured
The course runs for 24 months across eight quarters and includes 31 courses, weekend classes and capstone projects, according to admission material reported by EdexLive. The curriculum mixes business management with technology and innovation, covering economics of platforms, global business management, cybersecurity applications, and business models and innovation. The capstone projects give students a chance to apply classroom learning to real business problems.
DoMS ranked among the top 13 business schools in the NIRF 2025 rankings. Our guide to the NIRF 2025 rankings explains what the parameters measure and how to read them.
Professor Saji K Mathew, head of the department, said the programme continues to draw steady interest from industry, with participants averaging 12 years of experience across different industries.
