More than 1,200 offer letters went out in the first admission cycle of the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur’s B.S. in Management and Technology. The institute has now opened admissions for the second cohort of the programme, an online undergraduate degree that pairs business training with technology.
The response to the first cycle was strong enough that IIT Jodhpur moved straight to a second intake. Director Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal said the demand showed a need for graduates who can work across management and technology, as artificial intelligence reshapes entry-level roles.
What the programme is
The B.S. in Management and Technology is a four-year online degree, with a maximum of six years to finish. It carries 141 credits across 47 courses and eight semesters, and students study roughly 15 hours a week. There is no JEE requirement. Admission runs through the programme’s own qualifier test, held online.
The first year covers foundations of business and technology. The second year moves to core business and technology skills. The third year focuses on applied management, and the final year on strategic leadership and advanced business management. Students who stop after a year still leave with a recognised credential: a certificate after year one, a diploma after year two, and a B.Sc. after year three. The full B.S. comes after year four.
Who can apply
Applicants need Class 12 or an equivalent qualification from a recognised board, in any stream, with 60% aggregate marks. The cutoff is 50% for candidates from reserved categories. Students who are still in Class 12 and have not yet appeared for their board examinations are not eligible.
The programme is also open to working professionals and to students who are already pursuing another degree alongside it. That matters because the degree is delivered online, so it can sit next to a job or a regular college course. An optional short campus immersion at IIT Jodhpur is offered each year.
Dates and fees for the second cohort
The entrance test for the second cohort is scheduled for November 22, 2026, and the batch starts on January 1, 2027. The test has 60 multiple-choice questions on logical reasoning, verbal ability and numerical ability, to be completed in 120 minutes, with no advanced mathematics required.
The entrance test fee is ₹999. Shortlisted candidates attend a counselling session and confirm their seat with a ₹5,000 booking amount. The first year costs ₹1,35,000, and each of the next three years costs ₹1,40,000, taking the total to ₹5,60,000. Admission remains subject to physical verification of marksheets and certificates by IIT Jodhpur.
What to check before applying
This is an online degree, so applicants should weigh it differently from a full-time campus programme. It does not run the on-campus placement drive that IIT Jodhpur’s B.Tech students get, and no graduating batch has entered the job market at scale yet, so there is no verified average package to judge it by. What it does offer is an IIT Jodhpur degree and alumni status, plus a curriculum built around management and technology roles.
Anyone comparing online degrees should read our guide to how to choose a university in India first, and keep the admission documents checklist handy, since IIT Jodhpur verifies original documents before confirming admission. Applications go through the official IIT Jodhpur online degree portal.
