November 12, 2026 is the cutoff in IIT Hyderabad’s latest faculty recruitment drive. It also includes departments that point to where the institute is growing: Artificial Intelligence, Climate Change, Design, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Liberal Arts, Entrepreneurship and Management and Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.

What each post needs

The eligibility bar is set high. Every post needs a PhD. The requirement for Assistant Professor Grade I is a first-class PhD with an excellent academic record. Grade II adds a strong record of research publications in journals. The Associate Professor post needs a first-class PhD plus at least six years of post-PhD experience in teaching, research or industry, of which three years must be at the level of Assistant Professor. The Professor post needs a minimum of ten years of teaching, research or professional experience after the PhD. The experience requirements for both senior posts count only post-PhD years, so the clock starts after the doctorate, not before it.

Foreign nationals can apply

Foreign nationals are eligible for faculty positions at all levels. Their appointments are made on a contract basis for up to five years. The advertisement also says women candidates are especially encouraged to apply, and reservation will follow Government of India rules.
