The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has opened applications for a six-month online certificate in Agritech, and the window stays open until February 22, 2027. Classes run on Sundays from noon to 3 pm, starting February 28 and ending August 21, 2027.

The programme comes from IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP) and is organised by the Centre for Rural Development and Technology. Professor Kavya Dashora, who works on nanotechnology, food systems and sustainability, coordinates it.

What the programme covers

The curriculum runs across six modules and ends with a capstone project on an Agritech challenge. It starts with Indian agriculture itself: the problems farmers face, how technology spreads in rural areas, and how the Agritech ecosystem works.

From there it moves to the tools. One part covers connected devices, farm sensors and the data systems behind them. Another looks at drones, geographic information systems and satellite data for crop monitoring. A third deals with machine learning, computer vision, risk assessment and rural finance.

The later modules turn to digital agriculture: public digital infrastructure, farm data platforms and technology-backed crop insurance. The final stretch covers storage, supply chains, market linkages and Agritech business models.

The timing fits a sector that is hiring for exactly this mix of skills. IIT Delhi’s own programme page notes that India has created 7.63 crore Farmer IDs under its digital agriculture mission and that more than 2,800 DPIIT-recognised agritech startups are already using AI, IoT and geospatial tools across the value chain.

Who can apply

Eligibility is deliberately wide. Applicants need a graduate degree or diploma under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 format, or a postgraduate qualification. IIT Delhi states plainly that no prior technical or agricultural background is required.

That makes the programme relevant to graduates exploring agricultural technology, working professionals in farming or food businesses, and people in data or software roles who want to move into the agriculture sector. Fees and instalments

The programme fee is Rs 1,30,000 plus 18 percent GST, which takes the total to Rs 1,53,400. It is payable in four instalments: Rs 25,000 plus GST within seven days of the offer, Rs 25,000 plus GST on February 26, 2027, and Rs 40,000 plus GST each on March 26 and April 26, 2027.

On top of that, applicants pay Rs 1,000 plus GST as an application fee. That works out to Rs 1,180, and it is non-refundable and non-transferable. It is not adjusted against the programme fee.

Candidates who withdraw within 15 days of the programme start date get 80 percent of the fee paid back, though taxes are not refunded.

Certificate and how to apply

Participants who score at least 50 percent overall and keep attendance at or above 50 percent receive a Certificate of Completion. Those who meet the attendance bar but score below 50 percent overall receive a Certificate of Participation instead. CEP, IIT Delhi issues the certificates in electronic form.

Applications go through the official Agritech programme page, which carries the eligibility rules, fee schedule and application link. Read the details there before paying, since the application fee is not refundable.
