CAT 2026 is on November 29. The next morning, the Department of Management Studies (DMS) at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi opens its MBA application window. Forms for the 2027 batch go live on November 30, 2026, and the last date to submit is January 25, 2027.

That leaves applicants just under eight weeks between the portal opening and the deadline, and the department has already published the full schedule, seat count and selection formula on its official DMS admission page.

Two programmes, 145 seats

DMS offers two two-year, full-time MBA programmes in this cycle. The regular MBA has 115 seats. The MBA with a specialisation in Telecommunication Systems Management has 30 seats. The telecom programme is one of the few of its kind at an IIT business school, and it has run for nearly three decades.

Both programmes sit on the IIT Delhi campus at Hauz Khas, and both use the same application form and the same selection process.

Who can apply

Applicants need a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. General, OBC and EWS candidates need at least 60 percent aggregate marks. SC, ST and PwD candidates need at least 55 percent.

A valid CAT 2026 scorecard is mandatory for every applicant. Final-year graduation students can also apply, but they must meet the degree requirement by the time they join. The CAT 2026 exam itself is conducted by IIM Indore, and hall tickets for it are due out on November 4. Candidates can check the official CAT website for exam-day details.

How selection works

DMS shortlists candidates on a 100-mark index before the interview stage. The CAT 2026 score carries 65 of those marks. The remaining marks come from academic record and work experience, with gender diversity and the graduation institute also contributing to the score.

Shortlisted candidates then face a Written Ability Test and a personal interview, typically held between February and April. The final selection gives the CAT score 40 percent weight and the personal interview 40 percent. Work experience counts for 6 percent, Class 10 marks for 5 percent, and Class 12, graduation marks and graduation institute for 3 percent each. Admission results are tentatively expected in the first week of May 2027.

What it costs

The total MBA tuition fee is Rs 12 lakh for two years, paid in four semester instalments of Rs 3 lakh each. Hostel residence and other institute charges are billed separately, so applicants budgeting for the programme should add those on top of the tuition figure.

What to do before January 25

The application is completed online once the portal opens on November 30. Applicants need their CAT 2026 registration details and academic certificates ready to upload, and the application fee must be paid online before the deadline. Keep scanned copies of Class 10, Class 12 and graduation mark sheets handy, since the form asks for them, and save a printout of the submitted application. Our admission documents checklist covers the papers most universities ask for at this stage.

January 25 is a hard stop on the published schedule. With the CAT exam falling the day before applications open, candidates who plan to apply should treat the last week of November as the start of the process, not the end of it.
