Working professionals who want to move into UX design have about six weeks left to apply to IIT Delhi. The institute’s Continuing Education Programme has opened admissions for the fourth batch of its certificate programme in Design Thinking for User Experience, and the registration window closes on November 26, 2026. IIT Delhi’s own programme page lists November 25 as the application deadline, so anyone interested should treat November 25 as the safer date and apply a day early.
The programme is aimed squarely at people already in the workforce. Graduates from any discipline can apply, provided they have at least one year of industry experience. Selection happens through an application review rather than an entrance test.
Classes begin on November 27, 2026 and run till May 29, 2027. The six-month curriculum is taught online, with sessions held on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, which means working professionals can attend without taking time off during the week. Applications and fee details are on the official programme page.
What the six months cover
The curriculum walks through the full UX design process: user research, analysis, ideation, prototyping, usability testing and implementation. Participants also work with user surveys, case studies and methods for evaluating digital products, and the course mixes theory with practical exercises and projects. IIT Delhi says the aim is to train creative thinkers into people who can do strategic, industry-ready UX work.
The programme coordinator is Professor Aneesha Sharma, an Associate Professor and former head of the institute’s Department of Design. She has over 25 years of experience in the practice and education of UX design and previously headed the Information Design department at the National Institute of Design.
The certificate rules
Not everyone who enrols gets the same certificate. Candidates who score at least 60 per cent overall and maintain 50 per cent attendance receive a Certificate of Successful Completion from IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme. Those who fall short on either count get a Certificate of Participation. The institute issues only e-certificates.
What it costs
The programme fee is Rs 1,49,000 plus 18 per cent GST, which works out to Rs 1,75,820 in total. EMI and loan options are available through the programme’s service provider, TimesPro.
Rs 1.76 lakh for a six-month certificate is serious money, and working professionals should weigh it like any other career investment: compare the curriculum against the skills their target roles actually ask for, and check the certificate’s recognition in their industry before applying.
