Design aspirants who missed the October 31 cutoff have five more days. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has extended regular-fee registration for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) and the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027 to November 5, 2026, up to 11:59 pm.
The earlier schedule had regular registration ending on October 31, with a late window closing on November 6. That schedule no longer holds. Under the revised timetable, candidates who miss November 5 can still apply from November 6 to November 10, 2026, by paying an additional late fee of Rs 500. The late window shuts at 5 pm on November 10, after which the portals close.
Both exams are held on January 17, 2027. UCEED runs from 9 am to 12 noon. Admit cards are scheduled for release on January 1, 2027.
What the two exams are for
UCEED is the gateway to Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes at participating institutes. The list includes IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. CEED is for postgraduate design admission, covering Master of Design (MDes) and some PhD programmes at participating institutes.
UCEED and CEED have separate application forms and separate official websites, even though IIT Bombay conducts both exams and the dates are the same.
Who can apply
For UCEED, students who passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam in 2026, or who are appearing for it in 2027, can apply. Candidates from science, commerce, arts and humanities streams are all eligible. UCEED allows a maximum of two attempts, and the two attempts must be in consecutive years.
CEED has a different bar. Applicants need a degree, diploma or postgraduate degree programme of at least three years after Class 12, or must be appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2027.
Fees and how to apply
The regular fee for Indian nationals is Rs 2,000 for female candidates and for SC, ST and PwD candidates, and Rs 4,000 for all other candidates. The Rs 500 late fee sits on top of the regular fee during the November 6 to 10 window.
UCEED applications go through the official UCEED portal, and CEED applications through the official CEED portal. Registration opened on October 1, 2026, so the extended deadline gives candidates a little over five weeks from the start of the window to finish the form.
