Engineering students who want a management degree without leaving their BTech or MTech behind have a new window to apply. The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam has opened admissions for the fourth batch of its Post-Graduate Programme in Management for Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI), the 2027-29 cohort. Applications are open on the official admissions portal and the window closes in December 2026.

PGPMCI is one of the few management programmes in India built only for technical students and alumni. It runs as a two-year programme with live online evening and weekend classes, and the third cohort enrolled 78 participants from 26 CFTIs across the country.

Who can apply

Eligibility covers both current students and recent graduates. Current students must be in the second, third or fourth year of a BTech or BArch programme, or in any semester of an MTech or MArch programme, at an institution that holds an active MoU with IIM Visakhapatnam. Recent graduates who completed their BTech, BArch, MTech or MArch in 2025 or 2026 can apply with no MoU requirement if they are from a Centrally Funded Technical Institution or an Institution of National Importance.

The eligible pool includes IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc, IISERs, SPAs, NITTTRs, NERIST, SLIET, NIAMT and GKCIET. Candidates must have entered their technical programme through JEE Main, JEE Advanced or GATE, and meet the minimum cut-off: 50 percent aggregate for General candidates, 45 percent for EWS and NC-OBC, and 40 percent for SC, ST and PwD candidates.

How selection works

Selection runs on a 100-point composite score: 15 points each for Class 10 and Class 12 marks, 30 for UG or PG marks, 30 for the aptitude test, and a 10-point gender diversity bonus for female and transgender applicants.

Candidates without valid CAT, GRE or GMAT scores take the IIMV proctored online aptitude test on February 7, 2027, covering quantitative aptitude, data interpretation and logical reasoning, and verbal ability. Holders of valid scores in any of the three tests are exempt.

What it costs

The programme fee is Rs 6.71 lakh to Rs 7.37 lakh plus GST, with current PTI students paying less than alumni. The application fee is Rs 250, non-refundable across categories. Loans are available through Bank of Baroda, Credilia and PNB Pratibha, and the institute offers the BPCL Techno-Manager Leadership Scholarship to eligible candidates.
