The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur has added a new programme aimed squarely at the money management industry. On October 21, 2026, the institute launched a one-year, full-time residential MBA in Investment and Wealth Management (IWM). It says no other IIM offers a dedicated programme of this kind.

The timing follows a shift the institute points to in its announcement. India’s financial services sector is growing, investors expect more from their advisers, and investment products keep getting more complex. That leaves firms looking for people who can handle both the technical side of investing and the human side of advising clients.

Built with nine wealth firms

The programme was put together with nine investment and wealth management firms: 360 ONE, ASK Private Wealth, Client Associates, IIFL Wealth, InCred Wealth, JM Financial, LGT Wealth India, Nippon India AMC and Nuvame Wealth.

Their role goes beyond lending their names. The firms contribute to developing and reviewing the curriculum, deliver guest lectures and workshops, and host participants for a one-month industry immersion. For students, that means part of the year is spent inside the industry they plan to work in.

The teaching itself covers investment knowledge and wealth advisory skills, along with ethics and fiduciary responsibility. The institute’s chairperson for one-year MBA programmes, Prof. Rajesh Agrawal, said the programme was designed for a market where trust matters as much as returns, and where advisers need judgement about client needs alongside technical skill.

Where it fits at IIM Udaipur

The new programme joins two existing one-year MBAs at the institute, in Digital Enterprise Management and Global Supply Chain Management. The addition gives IIM Udaipur three specialised one-year options alongside its two-year flagship MBA.

IIM Udaipur was ranked 21st in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Management ranking for 2025. It also holds AACSB accreditation, which it secured eight years after its establishment, and it has appeared in the Financial Times Global MiM ranking for eight consecutive years.

For applicants, the career paths the institute names are asset management, private banking, wealth advisory and family offices. What applicants should check next

The launch announcement does not spell out the fee, seat count or application deadline for the first batch. Those details sit with the programme itself, so applicants should go to the official IWM programme page for eligibility, fees and dates before applying. Checking the official page also avoids relying on second-hand summaries of the admission criteria.
