Senior professionals who want a doctorate without leaving their jobs get their first opening on November 11. That is when IIM Udaipur starts taking Cycle 1 applications for its Executive PhD 2027, and the window stays open until February 22, 2027.
The Executive PhD is a three-year, cohort-based doctoral programme built for people deep into their careers. Scholars pick one of four research areas after joining: Finance and Accounting, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, Operations Management, and Marketing. The second year includes a nine-day immersion at the Fox School of Business in Philadelphia.

Who can apply
Work experience is the first filter. Applicants need at least 10 years of full-time work experience as of July 23, 2027. On academics, the institute offers more than one route in. A master’s degree with at least 55 percent marks qualifies, with 50 percent for reserved categories. A five-year integrated master’s at 55 percent also qualifies, as does a professional qualification such as CA, CMA or CS with a bachelor’s degree at 50 percent. The bachelor’s degree route needs 65 percent aggregate, or 60 percent for reserved categories.
Degrees must come from universities recognised under the UGC Act, 1956, or from AICTE-approved institutions.
How selection works
Shortlisting starts with the academic record and professional profile. Shortlisted candidates then sit the IIMU Test, a 60-minute paper with 30 multiple-choice questions, 15 verbal and 15 quantitative. Candidates with a valid GMAT or GRE score from the last five years are exempt, and a CAT score from 2022 onwards also qualifies for exemption. A personal interview follows for those who clear the test, and the final offers go out on March 11, 2027.
What it costs
The total fee is Rs 22,00,000, split as Rs 9,00,000 in the first year, Rs 8,00,000 in the second and Rs 5,00,000 in the third. That covers admission and tuition fees, boarding and lodging for the residencies, and the international immersion.
