Every student in the batch got an offer. The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore has finished summer placements for its PGP and PGPBA 2026-28 batches with all 608 participating students placed. The process ran from October 26 to 29, 2026, and offers came from 128 organisations.
The stipend figures stand out on their own. The median stipend was Rs 2 lakh a month, and the average was Rs 1.95 lakh a month.
Consulting took more than half the offers
Consulting accounted for 308 offers from 22 firms, or 50.7% of the total. Accenture Strategy led hiring by a wide margin with 123 offers. Bain and Company and Boston Consulting Group made 23 offers each, as did EY Global Delivery Services and EY-Parthenon. Kearney made 19 offers, TCS made 13, and McKinsey and Company made 12.
That concentration matters for applicants who want consulting. More than half the batch went to one sector, so students aiming elsewhere competed for a smaller share of offers.
Finance, technology and the rest of the batch
Finance, banking and investments came next with 74 offers from 33 firms. Goldman Sachs made eight offers, while Citibank and Deutsche Bank made five each. E-commerce, payments, fintech and retail added 46 offers, led by American Express with 17 and Amazon with seven. FMCG firms made 43 offers, with Procter and Gamble accounting for 10 and ITC seven.
Technology hiring moved the most. The AI, IT and technology category recorded 51 offers from 21 organisations, double the previous cycle. Microsoft and Albertsons Companies made six offers each, and Google made four. Other recruiters in the category included Adobe, Apple, Amazon, Salesforce and Samsung Electronics.
Indian conglomerates made 40 offers from 12 groups, up 33% from the previous cycle. Adani Group, Aditya Birla Group and Reliance made five offers each. Manufacturing, construction, energy and infrastructure added 25 offers, and healthcare, pharmaceuticals, entertainment and edtech added 21.
One counting detail is worth noting. The sector totals add up to 608 offers, but the organisation counts across sectors add up to 132 because four firms appear under two domains each. The distinct number of participating organisations is 128.
New recruiters and a two-day claim
About 40% of the participating organisations were first-time recruiters, according to the institute. That share suggests the recruiter base is widening rather than resting on the same firms each year, though the largest single hiring block still came from an established recruiter.
The 14-member student Placement Committee said more than 600 students received offers within two days, which it described as the highest number of offers made during a two-day summer placement process across IIMs. Prof. Nishant Kumar Verma, chairperson of Career Development Services at the institute, credited the students, the recruiting partners, and the coordination between the Placement Committee and the career services office.
For applicants, a placement report like this is one piece of evidence, not the whole picture. Sector mix, stipend levels and recruiter breadth tell you where internships are going, but they do not tell you how a programme teaches, what it costs, or whether it fits a particular career plan.
