IIM Ahmedabad summer placements: 85+ roles in cluster 1, more on Oct 27 and 30

More than 85 roles were on offer when the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad opened its summer placement season for the PGP Class of 2028. The first cluster ran on October 23, with recruiters joining both online and in person, and two more clusters are lined up for October 27 and October 30.
Six cohorts in the first cluster
The opening round was split into six cohorts: advisory consulting; cards and financial advisory; investment banking and markets; management consulting; private equity, venture capital, asset management and hedge funds; and transformation and operations consulting. That spread is part of why the first cluster alone produced so many roles. Consulting and finance, the two areas IIM Ahmedabad is best known for, dominated the list.
The consulting cohort read like a roll call of the big strategy firms. Accenture Strategy, Alvarez and Marsal, Bain and Company, Boston Consulting Group, EY-Parthenon, Kearney, McKinsey and Company, Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger, Strategy& and Vector Consulting Group all took part.
Banks and funds joined in force
The investment banking and markets cohort was just as heavyweight. Bank of America, Barclays, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JPMorgan Chase, Moelis and Co, Morgan Stanley, Standard Chartered Bank and The Raine Group were among the recruiters. On the private equity and venture capital side, Ares Management, Blackstone, Gaja Capital, Multiples Alternate Asset Management, Catamaran and Aquilon Capital participated. American Express, Cranmore Partners and Synergy Consulting made up the cards and financial advisory cohort.
Some of the roles were based outside India. The placement process included international opportunities with EY-Parthenon in Singapore and Goldman Sachs and HSBC in Hong Kong.
Last year sets the benchmark
The Class of 2028 has a high bar to clear. In last year’s summer placement process for the PGP Class of 2027, the institute placed 410 students across three clusters, with more than 155 firms offering 221 roles. Consulting accounted for 166 offers, about 40% of the total, followed by banking, financial services and insurance with 105 offers, about 25%. More than 50 companies were first-time participants, according to the institute’s consolidated placement release.
