IGNOU students preparing for the December 2026 term-end exams have one less trip to make. The Indira Gandhi National Open University has launched an Online Project Management System, or OPMS, a portal that lets learners upload their project and dissertation reports instead of posting hard copies. Submissions through the portal are open now, and the last date is November 30, 2026.
Indira Gandhi National Open University runs its programmes through open, distance learning and online modes, with Regional Centres across the country. Project reports, dissertations, internship work, fieldwork reports and practicum assignments have always been the awkward part of the exam cycle, since students had to get bound copies to a Regional Centre or to the Student Evaluation Division in New Delhi on time. The OPMS portal moves that step online.
Who can use the portal
The facility is open to learners enrolled in IGNOU’s open and distance learning and online programmes who are required to submit prescribed reports for the December 2026 term-end examination. That covers project reports, dissertations, internship reports, fieldwork reports and practicum work. IGNOU has said online submission is the expected route for these learners in this cycle.
Access runs through the learner’s IGNOU Samarth account. Students log in on the official Samarth portal and upload their documents from there. IGNOU has asked learners to read the detailed submission instructions before uploading and to make sure each file follows the university’s formatting guidelines.
The November 30 deadline
All project and dissertation reports for the December 2026 exams must be uploaded by November 30, 2026. The university has asked learners not to wait for the last evening. Its notice says submissions should be completed well ahead of the deadline to avoid technical glitches, which tend to pile up on the final day of any IGNOU window.
Who does not need to upload
There is one clear exemption. Learners who have already submitted hard copies of their reports to their Regional Centre or the Student Evaluation Division headquarters in New Delhi do not need to upload soft copies on the OPMS portal. If your bound report is already with the university, nothing more is required.
A separate fee deadline falls on the same day
Watch out for a second November 30 date. IGNOU’s online programmes portal notes that fee submission for project, internship and practical courses for the December 2026 term-end exam is also open, and that November 30 is the last date for that payment as well. No fee will be accepted after the deadline. This is a different step from uploading the report itself, and learners who need both should finish the payment first and keep the transaction receipt.
